On July 1, 2010 with little forewarning the Fijian government passed a new law stating the following:

“Tourist and local surfers can from Friday July 9, 2010 access and use any surfing area in Fiji without having to pay or obtain permit or approval from any person.”

What does this mean for WaterWays Surf Adventures and our travelers?

We will clearly have people booked to Namotu Island Resort panic and quickly decide to postpone or cancel their trips.  However, in the longer term (next 6 month) we believe Namotu will prosper from the decree.  The resort is still ideally situated to access all the best waves in Fiji including Cloudbreak and Restaurants which offer excellent options in the winter trade wind months July through August.  Namotu has set the surf resorts standards worldwide for food, service and activities; when combined with the beautiful beaches, crystal clear water and private setting the package will remain one of the best available to the US Market.
