Black Water Resort, Teahupoo :: OVERVIEW

Teahupoo. Heard of it? Of course you have, and you are curious to check out this heaving T Rex breaking in an oceanic Jurassic Park, where hot chicks in bikinis can bronze on boats only 20 meters from brave surfers risking their lives.
The Blackwater Lodge opened in 2007 to provide a cool, comfortable, eclectic land base for you to check out Teahupoo as well as the other waves in the neighborhood. Shortly after opening, the Blackwater Lodge served as HQ for the cast and crew of the Billabong Pro and has since hosted numerous professional surfers from around the world.

Teahupoo is a town on the main island of Tahiti at the end of the road, about two hours from Papeete; a laid-back, beautiful enclave of old school French Polynesian aloha. Surfing the many reefs in this area is the lure for the procession of surfers passing through town, but Teahupoo has other attractions by land and sea that make it a great location for small groups, couples and families.

The owner of Blackwater is Chris O’Callaghan, who has been operating surf Tours in the Society Islands and the Tuamotos since 1999. He is proud of his lodge and calls it “five star construction at a two star price.” Given the very small occupancy of 4 - 6 guests maximum, Chris is able to offer personalized service to each group.
