Bukit Peninsula, Bali, Indonesia

The Bukit Peninsula is a beautiful place to go surfing. Around 10 miles along and 10 miles wide, the Bukit extends south of Kuta Beach and directly into all that swell steaming up from deep in the Southern Ocean. The Bukit Peninsula is crowned with some of the world’s most famous surf spots: Uluwatu was one of the first fantasy tropical reef waves that set the world on fire in the 1970s. Since then all of the points and reefs of the Bukit have been explored and surfed, and it has become one of the most popular surfing destinations in the world.

Padang Padang Surf Camp is named for one of the more famous reefs on the Bukit Peninsula. They operate the Bali Surf School, which is the only surf school on the Bukit Peninsula, and they are trained and prepared to take you from stroking around in a swimming pool to stroking into waves – to catch some of that famous, mesmerizing Bali energy.

Bali Surf School is set up for individual lessons or groups. Depending on ability and comfort with the ocean, instruction will start in the swimming pool, or in the water at Dreamland, Padang Padang Beach, Uluwatu or Balangan. These are places with sandy bottoms and crystal blue water and easy waves that are perfect for beginners.

If the surf is too big along the Bukit, Bali Surf School will move to Jimbaran Bay, which is 20 minutes away, or Kuta Beach, which is 40 minutes away.

Bali Surf School is attached to Padang Padang Surf Camp, so you can accommodate yourself there or anywhere along the peninsula and into Kuta. Our instructors and guides will be glad to show you around Bali by land, as well as in the surf. Trips to the rice paddies at Ubud are popular as is the Uluwatu Temple.
