Ecuador is one of the “other” Latin American countries. A country blessed with surf but, not cursed with the international attention of other areas between Mexico and Colombia. Montanita is a small town popular with bohemian travelers, a modern version of the 70s hippie town with enough of a surf scene to be fun, but not too much to be overwhelming. December to May, Montanita fills up with international travelers looking to enjoy the sun, surf, and nightlife. Casa Del Sol in Montanita is the perfect choice for those who want to learn to surf off the beaten path, in the tropics of Latin America, at isolated beaches over sand bottom, staying in a comfortable hotel five minutes from culture and cuisine. This is great for mixed groups of learners and surfers, or anyyone looking to get out and enjoy a little nightlife. The learn to surf packages are based on a Sunday to Saturday schedule with surf lessons taking place Monday to Friday. Each surf school class is limited to eight students with a maximum of 4 – 1 student teacher ratio. A bilingual qualified instructor leads two hour classes twice daily. Each class has access to transportation for quick access to those out of the way spots for the best learning environment. Surfing multiple locations will allow you to experience all different types of conditions, which helps build a strong foundation for your surfing. Montanita is less than 2° from the equator, so it has two main seasons. From mid December through May the coast of Ecuador is sunny with rain showers often occurring in the evening and at night. This is also prime time to visit Ecuador as wind conditions are generally calm. From the end of May through November the coast of Ecuador is cooler, often having overcast conditions and onshore flow of wind. Accommodations are provided in the private Casa Del Sol Hotel directly in front of one of Ecuador’s premier waves. Rooms come equipped with air conditioning, free wireless internet, private bathrooms, and hot water. The town of Montanita has food, drink, music, good times and shopping – true Panama hats come from Ecuador, and Montanita is also known for jewelry. Other activities available include yoga, snuba diving, snorkeling, fishing, hiking to La Playita Beach, and horseback rides to see the waterfalls in Cordillera Changon Colonche. |
