Located on Colon, the main island of Bocas del Toro, Azucar Surf Retreat caters to small group of one to eight surfers and uses boats to deliver guests to a variety of surf spots catering to all levels of ability: Beginner to Beschen.

Azucar Surf Retreat is owned and operated by Mike and Jessica who moved to Bocas from Maui. Jessica ran her own all-girls surf school in Maui and Mike captained one of Maui’s premier charter boats. They are both lifelong surfers with years of experience running all aspects of a surf tour operation.  Azucar Surf Retreat opened its doors to all surfers in 2007 making it a perfect Caribbean getaway anyone can enjoy. Each group that stays at Azucar has exclusivity to the accommodations, boat, and staff, whether a group of six, or solo.

Azucar’s location is perfect for both surfing and enjoying the easy Caribbean hospitality that is refreshingly preserved in the small town of Bocas. Most waves in Bocas are within a 20 minute boat ride of Azucar’s private dock. The camp has their own surf panga and dialed-in captain allowing guests to surf where they want, when they want, without compromise. Azucar is also just a short walk from the main town of Bocas, for those looking for various dining options, shopping, or a night on the town.

After surfing, Azucar offers a number of additional activities. Everything from jungle hikes, snorkeling, yoga and trips to Bird Island, Starfish Beach, and Dolphin Bay are included in the package.
