SURF, TRAVEL, ADVENTURE WITH SAM GEORGE

Waterways Surf Adventures is pleased to offer exclusive guided travel with surf adventurer/writer/filmmaker Sam George. Available for select Waterways packages, Sam will be adding his over 30 years of surfari experience and travel expertise to our already comprehensive itineraries, assuring that your dream trip will turn into a classic. Providing premium services like custom, pre-trip travel consultation and exclusive, original written coverage of every trip, as well as unmatched storytelling and perspective, Sam brings unparalleled value to every Waterways tour he accompanies.
Sam is one of the sport’s most experienced surfers, with over 40 years in the waves—thirty of those spent traveling the globe in search of surf. He has explored the coastlines of over 40 different countries, from surf travel mainstays like South Africa, Indonesia and Central America, to exotic, far-flung locales like Gabon, Kiribati and Scotland. Sam has first-surfed breaks in wild places like Sao Tome, Madiera and the Andaman Islands; he’s ridden his bike along the coast of Ghana towing his board on a trailer, solo-paddled a kayak (towing boards again) to desert islands off Baja and ridden oil tanker wakes in Galveston Bay.
But while plenty of surfers have committed themselves to surf travel, what sets Sam apart has been his desire to share the experience. During his years as a surf journalist, magazine editor, historian and filmmaker, Sam has established himself as one of the sport’s premier storytellers, helping to put the surfing experience into perspective for over 25 years.
Waterways believes this combination of practical expertise, perspective and personality makes Sam the ideal surf tour leader. Part guide, part entertainer, part chronicler, Sam will be available to assist with everything from airport transfers to board selection to “surf movie night” choices. He’ll provide fascinating backstory and history for virtually every destination you might visit, but more importantly make sure that your story gets added to the timeline. As an exclusive Waterways feature Sam will produce an original, full-length article about your trip, to be provided for your own personal use and enjoyment. Sam will also be available for comprehensive pre-trip planning consultation.
We’re stoked to add Sam George to the Waterways team, and for the opportunity to give you the chance to travel with one of the sport’s most renowned surf adventurers.
“I just want to tell you how interesting and absolutely cool Sam made the Timor boat trip. It was an awesome experience, and the guided tour of Bali was a great way to spend the day before traveling home…”
Will H. Simi Valley, CA
“When I heard Sam was going to be joining I was a bit skeptical, but George was a class act. It was great to travel with him. Thanks, Sam, for showing me what a real surfer/waterman is…”
