Macaronis Resort itinerary remains the same for 2009 after a successful 2008 season using the Ambu Ambu Ferry linking up with Tiger Airways flights from Singapore and daily flights from Bali. Please read on for further details...
Getting to and from Macaronis Resort:
The most convenient International flight route to Padang is flying direct from Singapore on Tiger Airways. Guests flying from Bali should fly with Lion Air (via Jakarta) offering same day flights arriving in Padang before 2:00pm. Macaronis Resort ground handling staff greet guests at Padang Airport on Thursdays until 2:30pm, before departure to Ambu Ambu Ferry located 1 hour south at Bungus Harbor.
Ambu Ambu Ferry departs Bungus Harbor on Thursdays at 5:00pm arriving at Sikakap in the Mentawais at 7:30am on Friday mornings. Guests then enjoy breakfast aboard Indies Explorer while being transferred to Macaronis Resort arriving mid morning.
Upon arrival to Macaronis Resort new guests are free to check into their villas and have some lunch or go surfing, while departing guests board Indies Explorer at midday heading to Sikakap to connect with Ambu Ambu Ferry departing to Padang at 5:00pm. Ambu Ambu Ferry is scheduled to arrive back in Padang between 6:00am and 7:30am Saturday mornings, before guests are transferred to Padang Airport to catch outgoing flights preferably booked after 10:30am.

Traditionally over the past 3 years Tiger Airways schedules are released 5 months in advance. We expect that the 2009 schedule (after March 29th) will be similar to 2008 schedule and we are making enquiries now to have confirmation of this ASAP.
Please Note: While Ambu Ambu Ferry has agreed to ensure strict on time departures from Sikakap between 26th October - 29th March 2009 during which time Tiger flights depart early at 09:25am, we must advise that Macaronis Resort takes no responsibility for delays, and therefore advise that guests departing on TR255 over this period should arrange so that connecting International flights out of Singapore are AFTER 9:00pm Saturday evenings. This will allow alternative flight routes to Singapore on Saturday (via Batam or Jakarta) if in the case there has been a delay and Tiger Airways flight is missed as a result.
Trip Duration:
Guests using Ambu Ambu Ferry for transport between Padang and Macaronis have the option of booking either 8 days / 9 nights or 15 days / 16 nights (including 2 nights ferry).
The exception to this is during August at which time Ambu Ambu Ferry is scheduled to undergo annual docking maintenance in Jakarta.
During August 2009 Indies Explorer will travel to and from Padang fortnightly on the following dates as back up to the Ambu Ambu Ferry (3 x 14 night trips available over this period):
- Fri 31st July depart Macas 4:30pm arrive Padang 7:30am & Sat 1st Aug depart Padang 4:30pm arriving Macas Sun 7:30am
- Fri 14th Aug depart Macas 4:30pm arrive Padang 7:30am & 15th Aug depart Padang 4:30pm arrive Macas 7:30am
- Fri 28th Aug depart Macas 4:30pm arrive Padang 7:30am & Sat 29th Aug depart Padang 4:30pm arriving Macas Sun 7:30am
* All other departures from Padang and Mentawai will be as per regular ferry schedule.
