BOHEMIAN OPERATES OUT OF NORTH SUMATRA – NOT PADANG – Bohemian is based in North Sumatra so you are just an overnight cruise from these remote surf spots. Some of the boats from Padang are starting to venture “up north” but lose 1-2 days in transit each way.

BOHEMIAN CARRIES A MAXIMUM OF ONLY 6 SURFERS - Most surf charter boats in Sumatra carry 8-10 surfers … then they drop anchor at surf spots in the Mentawai Islands next to 2 or 3 other boats which are just as full. Fewer boats in this area equals less surfers in the water!

BOHEMIAN WAS DESIGNED & BUILT TO BE A SURF CHARTER BOAT - With flared hulls and lots of headroom, Bohemian is spacious, comfortable and STABLE. Catamarans don't roll from side to side like other boats. On Bohemian you can put a can of beer down on the table and it will stay there. This makes it much more user-friendly, ESPECIALLY for people who are prone to sea-sickness. Built by surfers, for surfers, with the emphasis on function and practicality, Bohemian gives you the room you need to enjoy yourself. Bohemian is a 48' aluminum catamaran built to survey in Australia by owner/operator Steve Bridge. It was built for the specific purpose of surf charter. Guests on Bohemian sleep in twin-berth cabins (not dorm style accommodation). The saloon is light and airy with ample seating area, TV, VCD, and stereo. There is plenty of power available 24 hours a day to charge the batteries for your video cameras and other gear. The boat is fully air-conditioned, has a water maker, and is equipped with all modern navigational and safety equipment as well as a satellite phone. On deck there is plenty of room to lounge around in the cockpit or under a large deck tent. Bohemian is powered by two Yanmar diesel engines and cruises at 7-8 knots.

THE SKIPPER Steve Bridge was born in England, raised in Australia, and has since spent his time between California, Indonesia, and Oz. He has operated three different boats in Indonesian waters during the last fifteen years. Two of these, including Bohemian, he built himself. Bohemian has been operating out North Sumatra longer than any other charter boat and Steve’s knowledge of the breaks and conditions means you’ll be at the right place at the right time to get plenty of surf. Steve has top of the line digital photo equipment and at the end of the charter you can get a CD photo album the trip and your waves.

THE CHEF and Steve’s first mate Ann has been in charge of the galley for 3 years now. She continues the Bohemian tradition of great food. Good surf may be dependent on the conditions, but we guarantee you delicious, healthy food day in and day out on Bohemian. Be prepared to gain weight.
